Welcome back for another night of action in the Association. Let’s jump in and take a look at some of my core plays at each position and then make sure to check out all our top plays on the Members-Only DFS NBA cheatsheet available in chat.
JAMES HARDEN – TIMBERWOLVES – FD $10,800 DK $11,100
The tides have turned of late in Houston and Russell Westbrook has been over 60 fantasy points in four straight games. James Harden hasn’t hit that number in seven games, but I think that turns around tonight. Harden put up 49/6/6 against the Timberwolves earlier this season and this is the perfect match-up for Harden to have another big game. The price has dropped on both sites and there is no way you can stay away from Harden in cash games. The Nuggets actually cover up Harden very well, so I wasn’t surprised to see him disappoint. James Harden is my favorite pay-up option on the slate and I’ll have 100% exposure in all formats.
AARON HOLIDAY – PACERS – FD $3,800 DK $4,500
With Malcolm Brogdon already announced out, Aaron Holiday is going to step back into that point guard role and he’ll likely play around 32 minutes here. Holiday was phenomenal just a couple weeks ago in this same role and the match-up against Golden State couldn’t be better. When given the minutes, Holiday is extremely safe as he stuffs the stat sheet and has the ball in his hands a ton. Holiday is extremely cheap on both sites and it’s going to be tough staying away from the obvious value. With some nice pieces to pay for on this slate, the value is much needed.
MARCUS SMART – CELTICS – FD $5,800 DK $5,900
With Jayson Tatum ruled out, Marcus Smart will likely get the start and he’s locked into big minutes once again. Tatum has the highest usage % for the Celtics, so his absence will leave a ton of shots up for grabs and Marcus Smart obviously has no issue shooting. Smart may never shoot 22 threes again, but he has the green light and the match-up with Orlando is a solid one. They’ll have the majority of their attention on Kemba Walker and Gordon Hayward, so Smart should slide right in there with 30+ fantasy points.
KAWHI LEONARD – CLIPPERS – FD $9,800 DK $10,300
Kawhi Leonard will be back in action against the Heat tonight and he’s my favorite forward on the slate. With Paul George out once again, Leonard is locked into big minutes and usage against a Heat team that plays fast and gives up a lot of peripherals. Leonard is affordable on both sites and there is plenty of value on this slate to pay up for these big guys. Leonard will likely match-up with either Bam Adebayo or Jimmy Butler, and I don’t see either slowing Leonard down. He has a distinct match-up advantage over both of them and the pace of play is a solid one for Kawhi. I love the play in all formats.
AARON GORDON – MAGIC – FD $5,600 DK $5,900
Power forward is the weakest position on this slate and Aaron Gordon is a phenomenal play that stands out at the position. The Magic are facing off with a Boston team that struggles against bigs and Jayson Tatum is out tonight. Tatum would’ve covered Gordon tonight and with Smart likely getting the start, it will now be Gordon Hayward. Hayward is a far worse defender on power forwards and Gordon should have no issue reaching 30 fantasy points. The Celtics struggle most against bigs and they will have all of their attention set on Vucevic.
T.J. WARREN – PACERS – FD $5,600 DK $6,000
T.J. Warren is going to go overlooked tonight and he’s a great play for the price at small forward. Warren has been over 30 fantasy points in four of his last six games and he’s truly turned into a very reliable option for this offense. Now that Brogdon is once again out, Warren will see a few more shots and have the ball in his hands even more. The Warriors give up a ton of threes on the wing and that’s exactly where Warren derives a lot of his upside. Assuming the game stays relatively close, Warren is locked into 30 fantasy points and he’s a great play in all formats.
KARL-ANTHONY TOWNS – TIMBERWOLVES – FD $9,800 DK $10,200
Towns is affordable on both sites and he’s back to the player we’re very much used to. The match-up with Houston is a great one as the Rockets play fast and they give up a ton of peripherals in turn. Towns is going to play 34 minutes here and I love pairing him with James Harden to stack this game. Clint Capela is a great defender in the paint and he can rebound, but he’s nowhere near the athlete KAT is and he has no chance of staying with him on the outside. I’m a big fan in all formats and will have most of my exposure at C for Towns.
