As we discussed last week, the ability to distinguish between the various levels of injury news and what those absences/physical limitations may mean for each individual offensive/defensive game-plan is one of the most important skillsets in DFS, but with football in particular, to constantly be improving upon. Let’s discuss Week 5, and what the injury information we have at our disposal means for your Cash and GPP lineup builds.
Marvin Jones is both Cash and GPP viable.
I’ll keep this one short and sweet; if Marvin Jones is playing Green Bay, then make sure he’s in your lineups. His numbers in 4 games versus Green Bay are monstrous: 117.3 yards/game, 1.3 touchdowns/game, 24.7 PPR points per game, and my favorite stat of all Marvin has a LEAGUE HIGH 10 endzone targets this season. Breakout city and his price is laughable. Golladay will be the more contrarian, GPP play by the time Sunday rolls around, as the entire industry noticed Marvin’s price before anything else this week.
Kelce + “Naked” Bortles for GPP
If you are looking for contrarian access to this shootout, then Kelce ($6K) and Bortles without any of his WR’s (naked) is a great strategy in GPP’s. Kelce will not be priced below $7K the rest of this season, and although this game seems to come with major weather concerns I will be employing this strategy in GPP.
First person I’m plugging into most lineups this week. If you’ve been following NFL DFS this season, then you know that playing any sort of pass-catching RB against the Falcons has been a very rewarding strategy. This will again be the case on Sunday as the Falcons Defense is severely depleted of its starters and will now have to face the loss of DT Grady Jarrett.
If Cobb and Allison are both out, then I like MVS as a GPP play against the Lions.
Mixon, Boyd, AJ.
If Gio Bernard is out, then I like Mixon in particular to garner over 85% of the RB touches in a plus matchup at home. Boyd is still too cheap, and I like AJ Green even in a difficult matchup.
If Travis Benjamin is out, then I like Mike Williams.
Melvin Gordon is the safest play in this one, however if you’re going elsewhere at RB then I have no problems with something like Ekeler/Mike Williams as your exposure to this one. It will be very high scoring however, so I don’t suggest fading entirely.
If you are looking for exposure to the Raiders, then look no further than Jared Cook as his usage has been very promising this season.
Wilson + Baldwin are both Cash and GPP viable
Russell Wilson at $5100 and Doug Baldwin at $5K are both very intriguing cash and tournament plays this week. Baldwin was thrown right back into the fire last week, and the Rams will undoubtedly be scoring a ton of points, so look for this combo to be very busy Sunday afternoon.
