Derek Carr(DK - $5,200 FD - $7,000)
While I don’t think Carr will perform as well as last week’s value quarterback(Trubisky), he still has a ton of PTS/$ value this week especially on DraftKings where will cost just 10% of your salary cap. He is coming off a game where he attempted 58 passes and while he only completed 35 of them(60%), he posted his third 300+ yard passing game in four weeks and threw for four touchdowns. He has a terrific group of pass catchers that really make his job easier in Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, and Jared Cook. This week, he gets a plus matchup against the Chargers who rank 20th in passing yards against per game(275) and have allowed the 9th most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. The biggest issue is the loss of Joey Josa which has affected the pass rush that ranks 23rd in adjusted sack rate. With Bosa in the lineup the Chargers have allowed just 21 points per game and without him have allowed 28 points per game. The Raiders are five point dogs this week which plays right into the game script we need for Carr to have a big day. Fire him up in GPP formats.
Aaron Jones(DK - $4,300 FD - $6,100)/Ty Montgomery(DK - $3,800 FD - $5,500)
The Packers receiving core is really banged up this week as Randall Cobb has already been ruled out and Davante Adams(calf) and Geronimo Allison(concussion) are both questionable. While a lot people will be going the value route with the unknown wideouts in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, J’Mon Moore, and Equanimeous St. Brown I will putting my emphasis on teh Packers backfield. It starts with Aaron Jones who is the most dynamic of the the three and if he somehow got the majority of the touch shares could shine as the lead back. He split carries with Jamaal Williams in week 4 but out performed with 65 yards and a touchdown and added one catch for 17 yards. His best value comes on DraftKings where he is just $4,300. Ty Montgomery is a nice punt option on both sites who is a converted wide receiver with terrific hands and can be split out wide or in the slot. The best part about their values is the matchup as the Lions have given up a league-high 157.8 yards per game on the ground and the 4th most fantasy points per game to the running back position.
John Brown(DK - $5,600 FD - $6,200)
At the wideout position, I think there is ton of value pivoting off Tyler Boyd and Calvin Ridley in the mid-range as both are expected to be highly owned against this week. For me, that option is John Brown who has been tremendous in his first season with the Ravens. Has scored a touchdown in three of his four games and has recorded 86 or more receiving yards in three straight. The Cleveland defense hasn’t been as bad in pass defense this season but still rank 23rd in passing yards allowed per game(278.3) and have given up the 10th most fantasy points per game to wideouts. At his price and projected sub 10% ownership, he makes a terrific GPP target in week 5.
