With a wacky schedule this week in the NHL with Thanksgiving on Thursday, we have a massive 14-game slate tonight with all but three teams in action. Below I will share a few of my top plays at each position for this slate and for even more plays be sure to download a copy of my DFS NHL Cheatsheet. It has advanced player stats, team stats, odds, top plays for GPP’s, cash games, and my top stacks.
Top Goalie Target
Pekka Rinne(DK - $8,500 FD - $9,200)
Rinne is the most expensive option between the pipes tonight on both sites but is more than worth it as he leads the league in both GAA(1.69) and save %(.942). He has been even better lately going 7-1-1 in his last 10 games(one relief appearance) with a .947 save % and two shutouts. Tonight he and the Preds are -185 home favorites against a Blues team that has been much worse on the road scoring just 2.43 goals per game and have lost four of their last five games overall. Rinne is my top goalie tonight and an elite option in all formats.
Also Consider: Semyon Varlov(COL) in GPP formats facing the Kings who rank dead last in offense overall(2.00 goals per game)
Jack Eichel(DK - $7,400 FD - $7,500)
There are a ton of centers tonight and if you have the salary, MacKinnon, Tavares, Seguin, and Malkin are all in play. For me, I will be going a bit more balanced and building around Jack Eichel who has been elite lately with 13 points over his last 10 games with 41 shots on goal. Look for the success to continue tonight as the Sabres are at home to a Flyers team that ranks 29th overall in defense. From a PTS/$ perspective, Eichel is my top center in all formats.
Max Domi(DK - $6,800 FD - $7,100)
I was definitely one of the people questioning the Canadiens in the offseason when they traded two of their best offensive players in Max Pacioretty and Alex Galchenyuk. One of the the players coming back in the Galchenyuk trade was Max Domi and he has clearly been their best player this season as he leads the team with 25 points(11th overall in NHL). The price has shot up and the shot volume isn’t where I would like it for cash games but the upside is there for GPP against a Devils team that has dropped 11 of their last 15 games allowing 3.8 goals per game and rank 22nd in overall defense. Pair Domi with Jonathan Drouin in a line stack and also consider adding Brendan Gallagher who skates with them on the top powerplay unit.
Also Consider: Brayden Point(TB) in all formats, Mathew Barzal(NYI) in GPP formats
Alex Ovechkin(DK - $7,800 FD - $8,800)
With so many mid-tier and value centers tonight it makes it easy if you want to pay up at the winger position. The one that stands out tonight and most nights for that matter is Alex Ovechkin. He is, by far, the best goal scorer in the league and is once again pace for a monster season and his 10th 40+ goal campaign. On top of the upside, he offers us one of the highest floors in the game and comes in with 21 shots in his last three games and is averaging four shots per game on the season while also leading all qualified skaters with a crazy 25.7 iCorsi/60 rating. Capping things off, Ovi and the Caps get an elite matchup against the Blackhawks who rank 27th in road defense allowing just under four goals per game. Ovechkin is my top play overall when looking at raw points and safe in all formats.
Jake DeBrusk(DK - $5,000 FD - $4,700)
With Patrice Bergeron out at least four weeks, the Bruins have had to shake up their lines and one player who could see additional playing time is Jake DeBrusk. He is currently listed on the second line as well as the top powerplay unit with Marchand, Pastrnak, and Krejci. The shot volume isn’t great(2.2 shots per game) but he is really showing an improvement in his goal scoring with eight after scoring 16 in 70 games last year. He is inconsistent like most young players in the league but with his added role and low price on both sites, he makes an excellent value play in GPP formats.
Also Consider: Craig Smith(NSH) in all formats as a value who has been bumped to the top line with Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen
Matt Dumba(DK - $6,000 FD - $5,500)
Much like I have been mentioning Mark Giordano being under-priced, the same can be said for Matt Dumba of the Wild. He comes in red-hot with points in four straight but what stands out the most to me is his floor as he has 36 shots and 16 blocks over his last 10 games and with eight points is averaging 4.7 DraftKings/16.9 FanDuel points per game. His price will continue to go up so get on him now while he gets an elite matchup against a Sens team that ranks dead last in defense allowing over four goals per game.
Also Consider: Mark Giorando(CGY) in all formats, Ian Cole(COL) as a value play
