Goalie Target

Pekka Rinne(DK - $8,400 FD - $9,100)

With Garrett Sparks getting the start over Frederik Andersen in Toronto tonight, it is an easy transition to go to Pekka Rinne as my top goalie. It was close to start with as he is cheaper than Andersen and has been better on the season. Rinne leads the league in GAA(1.81), save %(.935) and is tied for third in wins with 12. Looking at the advanced stats(via naturalstattrick) at 5 on 5, Rinne has a .950 save % and elite .921 save % when facing high danger scoring chances. The only knock on him tonight is the upside as the Preds defense is elite(ranked #1) and he faces under 30 shots per game. The matchip against the Canucks and win upside more than makes up for that.

Also Consider: Adin Hill(ARI) in GPP formats as he has been terrific winning four straight and is in the mid to low $7K range on both sites

Center Targets

Auston Matthews(DK - $8,300 FD - $8,600)/John Tavares(DK - $7,400 FD - $8,000)

The Leafs offense is a terrific place to start tonight when constructing lineups not just in cash games but GPP formats as well. They rank #2 overall scoring 3.6 goals per game and now get a plus matchup against the Red Wings who have dropped five of their last seven games and rank 22nd in road defense(3.5 goals against per game).

It starts with Auston Matthews who returned from a shoulder injury last week and picked up where he left off scoring five goals in three games and now has 15 in 14 games on the season. He also has an elite floor averaging 12.1 shots per 60 with the 10th highest iCorsi/60(21.1). If you can’t quite fit Matthews in cash games, consider John Tavares who has also been terrific and has tallied nine points in his last 10 games with 32 shots on goal. For the season, he sits with a 11.3 shots per 60 and 18.5 iCorsi/60 so he can also be used in all formats tonight.

Max Domi(DK - $6,500 FD - $6,500)

The price which is near a season-high on both sites combined with the lack of shot volume(13.8 iCorsi/60, 8.1 shots/60) are the main reasons I list Domi as a GPP play tonight and not in cash. He does, however, make an excellent pivot off the chalky Leafs and Penguins and has flashed a ton of upside this season with 30 points in 28 games including four in two games against the Sens. Speaking of the Sens, there offense has been electric this season but the same cannot be said for the defense which ranks dead last in the NHL as they allowed just over four goals per game. In your GPP lineups, stack Domi with Jonathan Drouin who skates with him on the second line and then add Brendan Gallagher who joins them on the top powerplay unit.

Also Consider: Anze Kopitar(LAK) on DraftKings in the low $5K range as he has 12 points in his last 10 games and faces a Devils team that has allowed the second most goals per game(4.31) on the road

Wing Targets

Cam Atkinson(DK - $7,300 FD - $7,300)

Atkinson has been in full beast mode lately and one of the best fantasy players in the NHL. Over his last 10 games, he has tallied 12 goals and 18 total points(3 PP, 2 SH) while firing 42 shots on goal good for an average of 7.6 DraftKings/26.9 FanDuel points per game. He has been a major reason the Blue Jackets are second in their division and is a part of one of the most productive lines in the NHL as he, Artemi Panarin, and Pierre-Luc Dubois all have 25 or more points on the season. All three are in play in GPP formats but I lean to Atkinson in cash games against a terrible Flyers defense that ranks 29th overall.

Kevin Fiala(DK - $5,200 FD - $4,700)

With Filip Forsberg joining Viktor Arvidsson on injured reserve, the upside with the Preds offense has gone down a bit but the value remains. Kevin Fiala has stepped into a top line role recently and has been very consistent with goals in three of his last four and points in five of his last six games. He has also seen a slight uptick in shot volume as well with three or more shots on goal in six of his last 10 games. In a matchup against a struggling Canucks team combined with a value price, not only can Fiala be used in GPP formats, but cash as well.

Also Consider: David Pastrnak(BOS) in GPP fomrats on DraftKings at a reduced price and Alex Tuch(VGK) in all formats against a Blackhawks team that ranks 30th in defense and is playing on a back to back

Defense Target

Tyson Barrie(DK - $6,000 FD - $5,700)

Barrie sat out a game with an undisclosed injury but returned Tuesday and picked up right where he left off with a goal on five shots. He has been very productive all season with 10 points in his last 10 games and 21(8 on PP) in 24 games overall. That isn’t even what stands out the most tonight as his price has dropped on both sites and he and the Avs get an excellent matchup against a Panthers team that ranks 26th overall on defense allowing 3.4 goals against per game. Fire up Barrie in all formats as a core player tonight.

Also Consider: Seth Jones(CBJ), Michal Kempny(WAS), Mike Matheson(FLA)
