Phillip Rivers(DK - $6,500 FD - $8,300)
It is very surprising I have not wrote about Philip Rivers more this season given he is the picture of consistency. Despite ranking 15th overall in attempts, he is 7th in passing yards, 5th in passing touchdowns and is the only quarterback in the league to throw two or more touchdowns in every single game. For fantasy, that is 16+ points in every single game and 20+ points in eight of 12 games.
This week he checks almost every box as the Chargers get an elite matchup against the Bengals who have allowed the second-most passing yards per game(279.8) and the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. The Chargers will also be without Melvin Gordon once again which could lead to another 35+ passes if the Bengals can somehow keep it within two touchdowns. At a bit of a discount from the top guys(Mahomes, Brees, Big Ben), Rivers is my top PTS/$ cash play on the main slate.
Aaron Rodgers(DK - $6,000 FD - $8,100)
While Aaron Rodgers isn’t having one of his best seasons, he has still been pretty darn good. He ranks 4th in passing attempts(463) so the the volume is definitely there and while he hasn’t been very accurate(61%) he sits 5th overall in passing yards(3,504) and just outside the Top 10 in touchdowns(21). What stands out this week is that a quarterback of his caliber is the 7th most expensive option on the main slate. That is just way too cheap for A-Rod in a matchup against the Falcons who have given up the 8th most passing yards per game(263.5) and 2nd most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. The Falcons have also been terrible against running backs so there is a chance Aaron Jones gets heavily involved but the Falcons are a team that could very well hang with the Packers meaning we likely see Rodgers throw at least his season average of 38 times in this game. At these prices, Rodgers is among the best plays at the position in all formats in Week 14.
Also Consider: Lamar Jackson(BAL) if he gets the start once again as one of the ways to stop Kansas City will be to run a ton and control the clock, something Jackson has been elite at lately.
Running Back Targets
Ezekiel Elliott(DK - $8,600 FD - $8,800)
Christian McCaffrey and Ezekiel Elliott stand out above the rest in Week 14 and if you can somehow afford both as lineup lock gets closer, that is the way to go. That scenario is very unlikely so I will lead off with Zeke who comes at a discount on both sites with his best value on DraftKings where he is $700 cheaper. While McCaffrey has the edge in receiving yards(663-423), Zeke leads all running backs with 240 carries on the season and is second in rushing yards with 1,150, only 25 behind Todd Gurley. Speaking of receiving, he has also seen a boost in targets lately with 6.8 per game in his last four(5.7 per game on the season). The matchup may not initially jump off the page as the Eagles rank 15th in fantasy points per game to running backs but let’s take a closer look. They have given 98 or more yards to a running back in four straight games including a Week 10 game where Zeke ran all over them for 151 yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys are now at home as 3.5 point favorites and will once again lean heavily on Zeke making him an elite play in both cash games and GPP formats.
Lamar Miller(DK - $5,100 FD - $6,500)
I talked about Miller in my “What I Learned” Week 13 Recap Article but let’s touch on it again. He continues to be under-priced, especially on DraftKings and the only reason I can come up with is the timeshare with Alfred Blue. Either way, Miller has rushed for 100 or more yards in four of his last six games and out-carried Blue 103-72 in that time. Miller has also been much better at home this season average two more yards per carry(6.1-4.1) and 20 more yards per game(90.8-70.3). The carries should once again be there for Miller this week as the Texans are 5.5 point favorites at home against a Colts team that ranks 19th in fantasy points per game to running backs. At these prices, Miller also helps us easily get one of the two elite running backs and a nice QB/WR combo in cash games.
Also consider: Phillip Lindsay(DEN) who has taken over as the lead back out-touching Royce Freeman 50-26 in the last three games and face a 49ers team that ranks 19th in fantasy points per game to running backs as a 5.5 point favorite
Wide Receiver Targets
Keenan Allen(DK - $7,400 FD - $7,900)
If you are playing Phillip Rivers in cash games, it makes perfect sense to pair him with Keenan Allen. First of all, he falls into the second tier of pricing which leads to a more balanced lineup and he has been an absolute beast lately. He is coming off a 19 target game against the Steelers and leads all players with 11.8 targets per game over the last four weeks while catching 77% of those passes and scoring a touchdown in each game. He and the Chargers now face a Bengals team that has allowed the second-most passing yards per game(279.8) and a league-high 30.9 points per game on the season. Lock him into cash games this week.
Amari Cooper(DK - $6,600 FD - $6,900)
Dipping down even further this week we have another wide receiver who stands out for multiple reasons. First of all, since joining the Cowboys in Week 9 he has led the team with 40 targets(8 per game) catching 30 of them(75%) for 425 yards and three touchdowns. Like Allen who I mentioned above, he also gets an elite matchup this week against an battered secondary in Philadelphia that has given up an average of 270 yards per game over their last four and now rank 26th overall while also giving up the 6th most fantasy points per game to the WR position.
Also Consider: Michael Thomas(NO) if you have the salary as he comes in with an elite 87% catch rate and faces a Bucs team that has allowed the fifth-most passing yards per game and third-most fantasy points per game to the position
Tight End Target
Eric Ebron(DK - $5,700 FD - $6,400)
I wrote up Ebron last week as a cash game play and if you only looked at the score you probably though he burned you. Despite the Colts scoring ZERO points against the Jags, Ebron still scratched out value as he was targeted a whopping 16 times and he ended up catching 10 of them for 81 yards(16.2 DK/10.2 FD). He is dealing with an illness at the moment but assuming he gets in a practice on Friday he is once again a top target at a depleted position despite the increase in price. The Colts are not only five point underdogs leading to a pass heavy attack once again but they face a Texans team that has given up the 8th most fantasy points per game to tight ends.
Also Consider: Zach Ertz(PHI) if you can afford it as he not only leads all tight ends in targets but is 6th overall among all players
