Matt Murray(DK - $7,800 FD - $8,800)
Since returning form injury, Matt Murray has been scorching hot winning all six games while giving up more than two goals just once. He not only has gotten the wins but has flashed a ton of upside facing just over 33 shots per game since his return while posting an elite .955 save %. The matchup may not stand out against the Jets Top 10 offense but the Pens are still -130 home favorites. He is in play in all formats with his best value coming on DraftKings where he is the 8th most expensive goalie.
Adin Hill(DK - $7,600 FD - $7,500)
Off the radar a bit tonight is Adin Hill down in the mid $7K range on both sites. He and the Coyotes are -120 home favorites as the Devils and their league-worst 4-13-3 road record come to town. Hill has been up and down since being called up but solid nonetheless with a 7-4 record with a .916 save % and one shutout while facing 29 shots per game. With Taylor Hall on the IR, the Devils offense has been downgraded making the win potential that much greater tonight. It is risky for sure but the upside is there and Hill gives us a ton of salary relief to help us load up on top forwards and defense.
Nathan MacKinnon(DK - $8,100 FD - $8,700)
Mackinnon is the top player on the slate to build around tonight and comes in scorching hot with 13 points in his last 10 games with a whopping 54 shots. On the season, he has an elite stat line with 60 points(4th in the league), a 12.3 shots/60, 19.3 iCorsi.60, and is averaging 11.8 scoring chances per 60 minutes. Adding to the high floor and ceiling is the matchup which is also in his favor facing a Rangers team that ranks 30th in road defense allowing over four goals per game.
Tyler Seguin(DK - $6,900 FD - $7,800)
The MacKinnon, Crosby, Malkin at the top combined with the value in the Caps centers(Kuznetsov, Backstrom), Tyler Seguin could be slightly under-owned tonight making him an excellent pivot at center. He came through at low ownership the other night with two goals and while he hasn’t been anywhere near his ceiling lately he has still been solid with 10 points(4 on the PP) and 34 shots in his last 10 games. The matchup isn’t too shabby either once you dig deeper as the Caps rank 19th in road defense, a half goal worse than their defense at home.
Viktor Arvidsson(DK - $7,000 FD - $6,700)
Arvidsson returned to action after over a month on the IR and picked up right where he left off with four points and 17 shots in four games. Tonight, he and the Preds also get a terrific matchup against a Red Wings team that has given up four or more goals in four straight and seven of their last 10 games. He is a terrific play in all formats but especially on FanDuel where he is the 15th most expensive winger.
Nikolaj Ehlers(DK - $5,600 FD - $5,300)
When looking for a GPP play, Ehlers checks all the boxes and it starts with the opportunity as he skates on the top line with Wheeler and Scheifele and also on the second powerplay unit. He has been held off the scoresheet for four straight games but don’t let that get to you as he has been streaky all season with a ton of upside with seven multi-point games and 27 points overall. This is also a buy-low situation as his price has crept back down in the mid to low $5K range.
Miro Heiskanen(DK - $4,300 FD - $4,600)
I love starting off my cash game lineups with a mid range option on the point who checks all the boxes and Hesikanen is providing just that. Not only is he averaging over 22 minutes of ice-time but is also getting tons of opportunities on the powerplay(1:44 per game). He sits with 19 points on the season and despite only recording three of those in the last 10 games, has 36 shots and 13 blocks for an average of 3.4 DraftKings/11.4 FanDuel points per game. With a mid $4K price tag on both sites, Heiskanen is my top PTS/$ play on defense tonight.
Kris Letang(DK - $6,200 FD - $6,900)
While I prefer the savings at the defense position in cash games, I love paying up for two in GPP formats to separate a bit from an ownership perspective. While Letang won’t be low owned himself, he is a perfect GPP target getting over 25 minutes of ice-time per game on the season and comes in red-hot with points in five straight and eight of his last nine games. Adding to the upside is the fact he skates on the top pairing and the top powerplay with Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, and Hornqvist.
