MLB DFS Breakdown April 24th, 2019

The MLB season is underway! Here are some of our targets for Pitching and Hitting stacks for tonight’s slate. If you have any questions, be sure to join me in the RotoPros Slack Chat. Not a RotoProsmember yet? Get over to the site and sign up for a FREE one-week trial!

Top-Tier Pitching Targets:

Blake Snell (EARLY) ($10,400 DK, $12,000FD): The Rays ended up activating Snell a few days early from the Injured-List, and there is a small chance that his pitch-count is capped 5-10 pitches sooner than usual. With that being said, the Royals are one of the worst offenses in the MLB against LHP with a .257 wOBA, a lowly 56 wRC+, and a crappy .130 ISO. Look for Snell to be the top SP play on the early-slate.

Justin Verlander ($10,500 DK, $11,000 FD): JV makes for the safest option on the night-slate as there aren’t many strong SP’s for this one. He seems to be finding a groove averaging 33 FPPG in his last two starts, both on the road, and could certainly use a dominant, home-start to hit his stride as we head into May.

Other options to consider:

Eduardo Rodriguez, Chris Paddack, German Marquez

Mid-Tier/Cheap Pitching Targets:

Jordan Lyles ($7400 DK, $8800 FD): Lyles had some minor success as a reliver against the Diamondbacks last season, now he lines up to square-off with them as SP at home. Arizona finds themselves in the bottom-third of the league in most offensive categories against RHP as well, adding to the appeal here on a smaller-slate with sub-par SP options. Lyles has also averaged 23.8 FPPG in three previous starts this season.

Jefry Rodriguez (EARLY) ($6600 DK, $5900 FD): Flow-chart vibes here again as Rodriguez lines up to face the Marlins at home in Cleveland. Miami is completely at the back of the league in terms of offensive categories, in the bottom 10% of the league which certainly adds to the appeal of Rodriguez here.

Other options to consider:

CC Sabathia

Top-Tier Offensive Stack:

St. Louis Cardinals: Chacin is not a horrible pitcher, however the STL offense is dominating RHP so far this season to the tune of a whopping.358 wOBA, a 123 wRC+, and an impressive .206 ISO. These numbers are too strong to ignore, and the Cardinals make for my favorite offense on the early slate.

Texas Rangers: Aaron Brooks isn’t a very dominant SP, and the Texas offense has a .347 wOBA, 110 wRC+, and a .201 ISO against RHP so far this season. Gallo, Mazara, and Choo are my favorite targets in this one.

Other options to consider:

Milwaukee Brewers

Mid-Tier/Cheap Offensive Stack:

Baltimore Orioles: Baltimore’s offense has put up pretty respectable numbers against RHP so far this season with a .309 wOBA, and a 92 wRC+, yet this recommendation is more due to how atrocious Ervin Santana has been thus far.

Other options to consider:

San Diego Padres

Paul Goldschmidt, Joey Gallo
