Welcome back for another night of action in the Association. Let’s jump in and take a look at some of my core plays at each position and then make sure to check out all our top plays on the Members-Only DFS NBA cheatsheet available in chat.
BEN SIMMONS – 76ERS – FD $9,300 DK $9,000
Ben Simmons is unbelievably consistent with Joel Embiid off the floor. In the last seven games, Simmons has dropped below 45 fantasy points just once. He’s gotten up over 70 fantasy points as well, so the upside is there. The match-up with the Knicks is an enticing one, as they struggle to rebound and certainly struggle with size in the paint. Simmons is obviously a very unique match-up for any team and I expect the Knicks to struggle in a big way with the guard who will present himself in the paint for most of the night. I love the play in all formats.
JAMES HARDEN – ROCKETS – FD $11,500 DK $11,200
If you can afford him, James Harden is an elite play tonight against the Lakers. This extremely fun match-up is going to be a show, and we all know Harden wants to be the main attraction. Whether he does it efficiently or not, Harden is going to score 35+ points and 60 fantasy points is a floor. The ceiling is closer to 100 than it is 70 and the match-up with Los Angeles is one I love.
ANFERNEE SIMONS – BLAZERS – FD $3,700 DK $3,100
With C.J. McCollum out of the picture, Anfernee Simons opens up some clear value for us tonight. Simons is going to play an easy 30 minutes and he could very well see 34-36. He’s always stuffed the stat sheet when on the floor and averages over a fantasy per minute when in the starting lineup. Against the Thunder, I like the match-up even more. They have three effective guards and Simons won’t have trouble putting up FP’s against Schroder and SGA.
LEBRON JAMES – LAKERS – FD $11,100 DK $11,000
James is obviously a better play if Anthony Davis is ruled out, but you can play him either way. Let’s assume Davis is out. The usage on LeBron slightly raises, but I’m not sure it matters what went on in previous games. LeBron seems to go into every game with a goal, whether it’s to score early or get others involved. He’s recently gotten off to slow starts and I expect James to come out as a man on fire against the Rockets. He knows the Lakers can’t fall behind as Harden can make it impossible to come back. With some value now presented on the slate, you can pair LeBron and Harden and hope for a shootout.
AARON GORDON – MAGIC – FD $5,700 DK $6,400
Aaron Gordon is a guy I love using when I know he’ll be getting up in pace. That’s a certainty tonight, as the Magic face off with a Golden State Warriors team that fires away. Individually, they have some strong defenders in Glenn Robinson and Draymond Green, but the pace of play causes excessive switches and screens and rarely will one player match-up with another one on one. Gordon is inexpensive and a lock for 30 fantasy points if the game stays close.
LUKE KORNET – BULLS – FD $4,200 DK $5,500
Kornet has been over 25 minutes in three of the last four games and played 35 minutes two games ago. He hit 27 fantasy points in each of the last two games and now matches up with a Cleveland Cavaliers team that will dictate his size. Kornet matches up well with Kevin Love and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the PF play over 30 minutes in this one.
MARC GASOL – RAPTORS – FD $5,000 DK $5,100
The price on Gasol is just too cheap on both sites. While he’s coming off injury, the big man has played 31 and 28 minutes in each of his last two games. He was limited last night so he could play comfortably tonight and the match-up with Minnesota is a great one. Whether KAT plays or not, they’re one of the worst teams in basketball against the position. Gasol is a big part of this offense right now and there’s no way he’s under 28 fantasy points here.
