Welcome back hockey fans. In this article, I will be taking a look at my favorite goalies, teams to target, and value plays.
Wow, this matchup seems unfair as the Lightning and their #1 defense face-off against the lowly Wings and their league-worst defense. The young Russian tender has been unreal this season and he recently recorded three shutouts in a row. Vasilevskiy is 15-3-1 to go along with a superb 1.73 GAA and a stifling .939 save %. We may as well hand him the Vezina trophy right now and he is an elite play in cash games this evening.
Ok, so we have our cash game goalie locked in, now we need to choose one who has huge upside and will be lower owned than normal. Enter Hart who has struggled his last two games but he shut out the Sabres last time they played each other. This is a boom or bust play but if it works out, it could pay huge dividends in large gpp formats.
Teams to Target
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Lightning are projected to score 4.3 goals and they own the #1-ranked offense, while the Wings own the 29th-ranked defense. This one could get ugly quickly.
Ondrej Palat is on pace for a career-best season and he has a goal and three assists in his last two games, and 14 shots and six blocks in his last three. Superstar Steven Stamkos has 22 points in 21 games and Brayden Point, Victor Hedman, and Alex Killorn complete Tampa’s fifth-ranked PP unit.
The Canes are ranked third in offense and first on the PP, while the Preds are ranked 28th in defense and 27th on the PK.
Sebastian Aho has three goals, two assists, and 15 shots in his last four games and Andrei Svechnikov has a goal, two assists, and seven shots in his last two. Jordan Staal, Dougie Hamilton, and Vincent Trocheck complete the top PP for the Canes.
One-off Value Plays
The young winger for the Capitals has a goal, an assist, and five shots in his last two games while skating on the second line and the top PP unit. The Caps should score a few goals this evening and Vrana is too cheap on both sites.
The Stars’ defender has two assists, four shots, and nine blocks in his last two games while averaging just under 24 minutes of ice-time per game. Lindell is an elite value play on both sites in all formats.
